About Shirring

A shirred stick is a pre shirred length of casing compressed into a compact stick, allowing the casing to feed continuously onto the stuffing horn during production.

Standard shirred stick lengths are produced for common piece lengths (18", 20", 22", 24", 26"). If your product or equipment requires a non standard piece length, We can produce custom shirred sticks to your specification.

When Custom Shirring Is Needed

Your target product weight requires an unusual piece length
Your stuffing equipment has specific stick length requirements
You are transitioning from hand tied or cut piece casings to shirred production
You need a very short piece length for a specialty portion controlled product
